As a textile artist, Sharon V. Rotz has been creating original artworks for many years. Her work has been purchased by numerous private collectors as well as the Milwaukee Art Museum, Marshfield Clinic and St. Clare's Hospital. Sharon's creative designs and high standards of workmanship have led to many prize winning quilts. In international competitions, she has placed 2nd at the Quilts for Change competition in Cincinnati, OH; and 4th at the American Quilter's Society Through the Window contest. Sharon has been a semi-finalist in the American Quilter's Society Shows, Paducah, KY, and the AQS Quilt Exposition in Nashville, TN. "The Rose of Chris and Sharon" and "Two Friends Monkeying Around" made with Chris Lynn Kirsch, were finalists in New Quilts from Old Favorites contests and were displayed at the Museum of American Quilters Society and other venues across the United States. Sharon's fiber art was displayed in a 2004 three person textile arts show "Stretched, Stitched, and Stuffed" at the Center for the Visual Arts on Artsblock in downtown Wausau, WI. Since then, her work was been recognized at numerous art shows at the Reaching New Heights Gallery in Marshfield Clinic, Weston, WI including Awards of Excellence, Embodiment of Spirit and a 2007 Runner-up Best of Show Award. Several of Sharon's small quilted pieces are currently on display in the DOA Lobby, Madison, WI.
In 2005, Sharon was selected to make a 14' x 16' artwork for a new hospital complex being built in Weston, WI. "Power Overflowing" now hangs over the Grand Staircase of St. Clare's Hospital at the Weston Regional Medical Center. "I think the beauty of quilting is that it appeals to the practical side of life yet extends itself into the artistic. It has been the creative outlet for generations of women."
